On the left of the picture can be seen the Braithwaite Village Shop, dating back to the 1830s. First owned by James Clark and Daniel Gibson in 1831, then Myles Farrer in the 1860s, and Robert Hindmarch and Miss Letty Frances Strong in 1925. Since 2003 the shop has been run by the Eddington family.
